PROJECT MEMBERS

Ljubodrag Dimić (1956) studied history at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, where he graduated in 1980. He continued postgraduate studies at the same faculty and defended his PhD thesis entitled Cultural Policy in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia 1929–1941 in 1993. Between 1981 and 1985 he worked at the Institute for the History of the Labor Movement of Serbia (today: Institute for Recent History of Serbia). In 1985, he was employed as a teaching assistant at the Chair for Yugoslav History of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. He became assistant professor in 1993, associate professor in 1998, and full professor in 2002. He was a member of the editorial boards of multiple academic journals, including the Yugoslav Historical Magazine, History of the 20th Century, Currents of History, Annual of Social History, and Military Historical Review, among others. He participated in several dozen scientific conferences both in Serbia and abroad. He conducted research in various institutions in Serbia, as well as in the archives of Great Britain, Czech Republic, Russian Federation, Federal Republic of Germany, and France. He wrote and edited 42 monographs and edited volumes. He is the author of 370 scholarly articles. In 2012, he became a corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and a full member in 2018. His academic interests include history of Yugoslavia and the Balkans in the 20th century, the relationship between culture and politics, social history, the relationship between the state and religious communities, the minority issue, intellectual elites and their societal role, international relations, history of institutions, history of historiography, as well as foreign influences and cultural and political entanglements.
