Koncepti nacionalizma i patriotizma u srpskom političkom diskursu: Srednji vek, novi vek, savremeno doba [Concepts of Nationalism and Patriotism in Serbian Political Discourse: Medieval, Modern, Contemporary], vol. 1, ed. S. Marjanović-Dušanić – A. Z. Savić, Beograd 2025.
The project entitled Concepts of Nationalism and Patriotism in Serbian Political Discourse – Medieval, Modern, Contemporary (CoNatPat) concludes with a collection of papers from the conference held 30. and May 31, 2024. at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. The collected contributions testify to the current phase of diachronic research into the ways in which Serbian political elites formulated national programs and feelings of belonging to their own community. The processes of building collective identities, constituted on the basis of shared goals, values, and practices, as well as on the community’s relationship to its own past, take place through symbolic forms – signs, texts, rituals, ceremonies, and monuments. Determined by external as well as internal factors, these processes, observed in the context of different historical periods, from the Nemanjić state to the present day, call for a dialogue between experts from different fields of the social and humanistic spectrum. This volume collects contributions that contribute to this broader interdisciplinary debate by addressing topics related to the period up to the end of the 19th century.
