The project entitled Concepts of Nationalism and Patriotism in Serbian Political Discourse – Medieval, Modern, Contemporary was launched with the aim of exploring how Serbian political actors across different historical periods formulated feelings of belonging to an ethnicity/nation and a homeland/state. The first task in carrying out the project was to identify and analyze historical sources that provide insight into political discourse across the three designated periods of Serbian history. The goal was to trace the genesis and evolution of the concepts of natio and patria. The volume before us, derived from lectures held at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, in March and April 2023, aims to present some of the results of this analysis, particularly those derived from working with sources on the earliest, medieval period.
